Purpose
To keep students constantly
moving in the game, improving their physical fitness, while also challenging
their strategic teamwork abilities.
Objective
Necessary Equipment
To escort the Captain to retrieve bean bags from the hula hoop in the opponent's side.
Necessary Equipment
-Whack-a-balls: used to get
opponents out
-Cones: used to mark territory
and boundary lines
-Hula hoops: used to mark area
with the bean bags
-Bean bags: used as the object
that determines the win/loss of a team
Where
to play
-Large area, preferably an open
field.
Preparations
-Set up the field according to
the diagram
-Separate students into two teams
with similar physical distribution
-Tell each team to appoint a “Captain”
-Move students into their team
base (starting area)
-We use whack-a-balls to
eliminate opponents, any person can eliminate anyone on the opposite team, regardless of which side you are on.
-You are NOT allowed to hold more
than ONE ball at a time.
-Tagging by hand or with the ball DOES NOT count as a way of
elimination. (You must throw the ball)
-You are ALLOWED to move with the
ball.
Being
tagged
-ANY contact (other than the two mentioned above) with the ball
means that you are out.
-If you catch the ball, you save
yourself.
-If you are tagged out, there are
two different things that might happen, -depending on which side you are on:
1. Getting hit on your own side: you return to your base and do a
certain punishment before you can get back into the game. (For example, 30
jumping jacks)
2. Getting hit on the opponent’s side: You go to the jail (located
at behind the opponent’s base.)
Getting
out of jail
-To get out of jail, you have to wait until an opponent is hit on
their side and has retreated to their base to do punishment. In that case, ONE
person is released. That person needs to side step across the full sideline
before going back into -the game.
-When the “Captain” is captured into the jail, another person is
immediately released as “Captain”.
The
“Captain”
-In the beginning of the game,
each team appoints TWO “Captains”
-The “Captains” are the only people that are allowed to retrieve bean bags from the opponent.
-The “Captains” wear special pinnies.
Changing
“Captains”
-The “Captain” can be changed
only in two conditions:
-The “Captain” captured as a
hostage in jail (See getting out of jail) or
-The “Captain” successfully brings back a beanbag (another “Captain”
is appointed)
Getting
the bean bag
-3 beanbags are located in a hula
hoop on each of the sides.
-The hula hoops provide immunity only for the "Captains"
-In order to successfully retrieve the bean bag, the “Captain” has
to run it into his/her own team’s hula hoop.
-The beanbag can only be passed around between the "Captains" anywhere in the field, but if the bean bag is dropped, it must be returned.
-If the “Captain” is hit by a ball anytime on the way back, the
bean bag has to be returned.
Winning
the game
-When all of the bean bags are taken
by one team, victory is declared.
-Otherwise, victory can also be determined on which team has more
beanbags.
General Rules
-Do not throw the ball too hard when the opponent is near you. It is also much less accurate.
-Do not puppy guard around the hula hoops.
-When changing captains, make sure to pass to all people, not continuously between students with greater physical ability.
-Do not squeeze or deliberately step on the whack-a-balls.
